Parent and Child Induction Policy

Skoolz Out recognises the importance of a pre-admission visit to the Service to enable both parent/carer and child the opportunity to see the play room and meet the staff team.

When a parent/carer is offered a place for their child, they will be invited to visit the Service (pre admission visit) prior to the initial start date.

The allocated key worker will discuss the child’s individual needs with the parent/carer, answer any questions and give them a registration pack to complete whilst the child is shown around by the keyworker and child buddy,

who will tell them about the activities, snacks etc., and introduce them to the staff who will be collecting them from school and the other members of the team.

Parent and Child Induction Procedures

Allocated key worker must:

  • arrange date and time of induction with parent/carer
  • discuss child’s individual needs with parent/carer
  • give parent/carer a registration pack to complete, preferably during the visit. (If this isn’t possible stress that pack must be returned before child starts with the service).
  • arrange a child buddy who will be available on induction day.
  • reassure the parent/carer that their child will be supported to settle-in.
  • Write in diary when to review settling in period (check progress at end of each week)
  • answer any questions the parent/carer may have politely and professionally.
