Day Trip to GMRC

It was a bright and sunny day during the Easter holidays, and I was tasked with taking a group of school children on a trip to the Glasgow Museums Resource Centre. The children were all excited, chattering and bouncing around as we boarded the bus. As we made our way to the museum, I could hear the children whispering to each other about what they were looking forward to seeing.

As we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly guide who gave us a brief introduction to the museum and its collections. The children were amazed at the vast array of artefacts that were on display. From ancient Egyptian mummies to medieval armour, the museum had something for everyone.

One of the highlights of the trip was a workshop where the children got to create their own Egyptian masks. They were given materials such as cardboard, paint, and glitter, and were encouraged to use their imaginations to design their own unique masks. The children worked together, helping each other and sharing ideas, and it was heartening to see them all so engaged and enthusiastic.

After the workshop, we explored the rest of the museum, stopping to admire some of the more unusual exhibits, such as a giant dinosaur skeleton and a Victorian street scene complete with shops and houses. The children were amazed by the amount of history that was contained within the museum, and they were eager to learn more.

As the day drew to a close, we gathered together to discuss what we had seen and learned. The children were all buzzing with excitement, talking animatedly about their favourite exhibits and what they had discovered. It was clear that the trip had been a huge success, and I felt proud to have been a part of it.

As we boarded the bus to head back to school, the children were still chattering excitedly, and I knew that the memories of this trip would stay with them for a long time to come. It had been a wonderful day filled with fun, laughter, and learning, and I felt privileged to have been able to share it with such a fantastic group of children.
